In Episode 265 of The Traders Podcast, your host Rob Booker talks about some universal principles pertaining to Murphy’s Law and trading. To discuss this topic, Rob begins by reacting to a New York Times article about the discouraging state of Iraq and its military, now that three years have passed since the U.S. departure.

This leads Rob to talk about a poor trading decision he once made, even though he knew he shouldn’t go forward with said decision. And Rob discusses how we will often make poor choices even though we see the resultant bad moon rising. So, Rob brings it home by giving some suggestions of how traders can combat the tendency to do things that are against their own best interest. Don’t miss it! Thanks for listening.

TTP Ep 264 art

In Episode 264, your host Rob Booker is still enjoying Paris, France, where he has been embarking on some culinary adventures. Rob has also been writing for Experts.ForexMagnates.com, where a reader recently asked: What are some mistakes that new traders make that veteran traders don’t make? Rob flips this question around and examines the four things that new traders do better than veteran traders. You probably shouldn’t miss this one … especially if you’re a veteran trader. Thanks for listening!

TTP Ep 263 art

For Episode 263, your host Rob Booker is solo-broadcasting from Paris, France. In this show Rob uses a set of articles that he’s been writing for Experts.ForexMagnates.com about cutting losses quickly as a launching point for his sentiments. Rob suggests that perhaps the practice of cutting losses quickly isn’t the Gospel truth that we’ve been told it is, and he says it’s often blasphemous to say so.

Rob talks about a friend of his who made $21,000 trading a counter-trend system. Then Rob discusses another friend who made $8,000, and he did not close all of his losing trades immediately. So, Rob gives some tips on how to trade in a different way, other than closing losing trades immediately. And Rob tells what he thinks makes a person “a professional trader,” including the specific trade size that a pro should take. Good stuff. Don’t miss it!

Welcome to The Traders Podcast, Episode 262. In this show your host Rob Booker talks about the notion of traders being their own worst enemies. Rob was recently asked how to know if his trading system is simply going through a temporary rough period versus when it’s time to call it quits on that system. Rob also spends some time discussing James Altucher as an example of a person with a quiet, understated confidence about his own abilities. Rob also invites any listeners who live in Paris, France, to e-mail or leave a comment, that he might meet you this week. Thanks for listening.

In Episode 261 of The Traders Podcast, your host Rob Booker kicks off the show by giving his thoughts on the popular HBO series “Games of Thrones.” Then Rob moves in to the theme of this episode, which is: Could One Learn to Trade in a Vacuum? Next Rob cites a Zen Buddhism scripture to frame this discussion, and as you might expect, Jason replies with analogies involving Pop-Tarts and IKEA instructions. Naturally, all of this leads back to a story about Bridget, who was infamously one of Rob’s unrequited loves from high school. Join us! We think you’ll like it!

Your host Rob Booker opens Episode 260 of The Traders Podcast by discussing a hot-button current events topic about a rescued POW. This leads to Rob asking what is our obligation — as a community of fellow traders — toward other traders who don’t do well. Rob talks about the benefit (or lack thereof) of piling more negativity on top of a trader who already suffers from regrets. Instead, in this episode, you’ll hear Rob give a prescription for more positivity. He also says trading mistakes are never about trading.

And Rob poses a question at the end of this episode that we’d like to hear your comments on: Can someone learn to trade in absolute silence (or in a vacuum — without any outside guidance)? Let us know in the comments, please. Thanks for listening.

Episode 259 is a rather unusual Traders Podcast, because your host Rob Booker and the producer Jason Pyles share some personal anecdotes concerning what they learned during their two years of missionary service in Italy and Tucson, Arizona, respectively. Rob says that a lot of what he knows about being a good trader comes from lessons he’s learned while knocking on people’s doors in Italy. For instance, Rob talks about how all the rejection he faced as a missionary informs his trading career. All of this and more in Episode 259 of The Traders Podcast. Join us! And thanks for listening.
