During Episode 623 of The Traders Podcast, your host Rob Booker and the producer Jason Pyles discuss how trading relates to storytelling! Naturally, to kick off this conversation, Rob and Jason talk about “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” spoiler-free. To the matter at hand: Does currency trading follow just one act, or does it tend to follow more of a conventional, three-act structure? We explore this and how trading is a “perishable predicament.” Join us to hear more!

Welcome to The Traders Podcast, Episode 622. During this show, your hosts Rob Booker and Jason Pyles muse about what Rob would do differently if he began trading today with his current knowledge of the markets.

In Episode 621 of The Traders Podcast, your hosts Rob Booker and the producer Jason Pyles revisit the age-old question of how one successfully trades for a living from home. Rob gives us the answer in three principles. Some of the advice in this episode will probably sound familiar to you. We talk about fully committing when you make the leap to trading.

We also discuss how all successful trading can be reduced to making money and then stopping. Make $1 and then stop. Rob also counsels traders to stop focusing on things that don’t matter. And Jason throws in his 2 cents by recommending that traders revisit the film “The Karate Kid” (1984). Join us to learn more!

In Episode 620 of The Traders Podcast, Rob and Jason receive a funny, double-edged comment from Nick, a martial arts instructor, who makes fun of Rob’s glasses. Nick talks about breaking boards as a martial arts demonstration. Nick says you should not focus on the board itself; he says you should focus beyond the board. Naturally, Rob and Jason examine this metaphor and its applications to trading. We also talk about conjuring the motivation to change and be better. Join us!

Welcome to Episode 618 of The Traders Podcast! In this show, your host Rob Booker speaks with special guest Mark Langley, a former trading desk manager who shares some valuable insights from his years of experience! Mark and Rob talk about how the industry has changed, and they examine the present-day landscape.

It might sound counterintuitive, but oddly enough, sometimes the downfall of traders is simply having too much information. There seems to be a fine line, and perhaps, a proverbial sweet spot when striking that delicate balance. How much information do we traders need to be successful? If we have too much information, we might overcomplicate or overthink our trading strategy. And if we don’t have enough insight, then we could be approaching the market blindly.

In Episode 619 of The Traders Podcast, your hosts Rob Booker and Jason Pyles talk about the balance between learning more about the art and science of currency trading and not learning enough. There’s a classic debate in the world of trading about teachers: Is it better to learn from a teacher who is trading or from a teacher who is taking a break from trading? Join us to hear our take on this question and more!

Welcome to The Traders Podcast, Episode 615! For today’s show, your usual host, Rob Booker, is traveling and having adventures, so Jason the producer invited “The Coach” Scott Welsh to guest host once again! You can find Scott online at: Scottwelsh.me

In Episode 615, Scott discusses how “dirty jobs,” or unpleasant jobs that nobody wants, are inherently insulated from the whims of the economy. They also tend to be lucrative! These are jobs that are always needed and always seem to have openings. Scott likens these types of unsavory professions to the nature of a perfect trading strategy: It’s not sexy or glamorous, but it’s profitable in the long-term. Scott asks us to think about what’s possible for our own trading careers if we’re willing “to get dirty” and do what others won’t! Join us to hear more!

In Episode 614 of The Traders Podcast, your hosts Rob Booker and the producer Jason Pyles discuss the danger of thinking that you’ve arrived. We’ve all heard the stories or have seen movies that depict this phenomenon: The struggling artist creates from lowly means but is passionate and happy, nonetheless. Then the artist attains wealth and great success and becomes miserable and discontent.

There’s something important about remaining “hungry” and aggressive. Rob tells a true story where he witnessed this phenomenon with a hedge fund. If you start having trouble with your trading, try returning to your roots. Strip your trading back down to the very basics, just the essentials. Get rid of all the superfluous trappings and excess and restrict yourself from unnecessary information. Listen to learn more!
